On November 14, 1963, Bangalore hosted India’s first hydrogen balloon flight, launching from Race Course Grounds. Carrying Balloon Mail postcards, it symbolized Indo-German collaboration for children’s welfare. The 100-minute flight reached 1800 feet and landed 20 miles away in Bangalore District.
