A special philatelic release was held at the Philatelic Bureau, Bhubaneswar GPO – 751001 on 18 April 2026 at 11 AM to commemorate World Heritage Day 2026.
On the occasion, three picture postcards featuring Sun Temple, Konark, Shanti Stupa, Dhauli, and Barabati Fort, Cuttack were released along with a special cachet cancellation. The postcards and cancellation were designed by Mr. Ajit Kumar Raut.
Only 250 sets were printed, making this a limited philatelic release for collectors. The special cancellation featured heritage-inspired elements including the Konark wheel, temple architecture, and Buddhist symbolism, linking the three postcard themes together.
The release function was graced by Mr. Ratan Jana, Sr. SSPO’s, Bhubaneswar Division; Mr. Mohan Suna, DSP, Bhubaneswar Division; Mr. Amulya Panda, Sr. Postmaster, Bhubaneswar GPO; and senior philatelists Mr. Debasish Mittra and Mr. Anup Kumar Raut.
For collectors of Odisha, heritage, architecture, and special cancellations, this release is a notable addition.
