Stripes of Conservation: Philatelic Salute to Tigers on International Tiger Day 2025

Every year, 29th July is observed as International Tiger Day, a global effort to raise awareness about tiger conservation. This year, India Post marked the occasion with a series of special philatelic releases across various postal circles—each highlighting India’s commitment to protecting its national animal and rich biodiversity.

In this blog, we’ve tried to compile the different philatelic releases made by India Post to commemorate the occasion in 2025. The information has been collected from various social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, and X (formerly Twitter).

Odisha Postal Circle

Let’s begin with my home state—Odisha. Continuing its tradition from past years, the Odisha Postal Circle once again commemorated International Tiger Day in 2025.

A special cover and pictorial cancellation were released by Shri Nirmaljit Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle, on 29th July 2025.

The event was held at the Postal Recreation Club, Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Bhubaneswar. This release celebrates the tiger as a symbol of ecological balance and underlines the department’s support for environmental causes.

Chhattisgarh Postal Circle

The Chhattisgarh Circle issued a special cancellation on International Tiger Day 2025, with a vibrant cachet to promote tiger conservation and environmental awareness.

This initiative reflects the Indian Postal Department’s commitment to conservation through philately.

Madhya Pradesh Postal Circle

On this day, Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, released tiger-themed picture postcards and special covers at various Tiger Reserves across the state.

A set of nine special covers was released by the Department of Posts to commemorate International Tiger Day 2025.
