The Department of Posts, Odisha Circle, released a Special Cover on 1 September 2026 to commemorate 20 glorious years of Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bhubaneswar. The issue celebrates KIMS’ two-decade journey in medical education, healthcare and service to society.
The Special Cover, themed “KIMS@20 – 20 Glorious Years (2007–2026)”, features the KIMS campus and carries a specially designed KIMS@20 pictorial cancellation dated 01.09.2026, Bhubaneswar 751024.
Issued as Odisha Circle Special Cover No. OD/12/2026, the cover was priced at ₹20, with a total print quantity of 2,000 copies. The Special Cover and its commemorative cancellation were designed by Mr. Ajit Kumar Raut.
Established in 2007, KIMS has grown from a six-bedded dispensary into a 2,600-bedded multi-speciality hospital, including a 100-bedded cancer centre, alongside its medical education facilities.
The release ceremony was attended by Nirmaljit Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Odisha Circle; Prof. R. C. Das, Dean and Principal, KIMS; Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor, KIIT; Dr. C. B. K. Mohanty, Pro Vice Chancellor, School of Medicine; Dr. R. N. Samanta, Advisor to the Founder; and Dr. M. R. Behera, Medical Superintendent, along with doctors and students of KIMS.
The issue adds another noteworthy medical and institutional commemorative cover to Odisha Circle’s philatelic releases of 2026.
