GSLV-F17 & EOS-05: India’s Latest Space Achievement in Philately

GSLV-F17 / EOS-05 Mission — a visual representation of India’s EOS-05 Earth-observation mission and its launch aboard GSLV-F17.

India added another milestone to its space programme on 29 August 2026, when GSLV-F17 successfully placed EOS-05 into its intended Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit. EOS-05 is an Earth-observation spacecraft and India’s first imaging satellite designed for observations from geosynchronous orbit.

To commemorate the achievement, a special pictorial cancellation featuring the GSLV/EOS-05 mission was provided at Mumbai GPO (400001) on 4 September 2026. The cancellation carries the inscription “Successful Launch of EOS-05 Mission” along with a line illustration representing the spacecraft/launch mission.
