Odisha Postal Circle released a Special Cover with Special Cancellation and a Picture Postcard to mark the 72nd Wildlife Week (2–8 October 2026). The event was held at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
Both the Special Cover and Picture Postcard feature tigress Zeenat with her cubs at Similipal Tiger Reserve. The Special Cover also carries the caption “She walked into History.”
Zeenat was brought from Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve to Similipal in November 2024. The move aimed to improve genetic diversity among Similipal’s tigers. In May 2026, she gave birth to four cubs. This marked an important step in Odisha’s tiger conservation efforts.
Shri A. Koragappa, Director of Postal Services (HQ), Odisha Circle, released the philatelic items. The first commemorative album was presented to the Forest Minister of Odisha.
The Special Cover bears a tiger-themed pictorial cancellation dated 03.10.2026, Bhubaneswar-751001. The Picture Postcard was issued in a numbered edition of 1,500 copies, priced at ₹10 each (excluding postage).
The release celebrates Zeenat’s story and highlights the importance of tiger conservation in Odisha.
