Release of the Nuakhai Special Cover at the Philatelic Bureau, Bhubaneswar GPO, on 15 September 2026, in the presence of Shri Ratan Jana, IPoS, Shri Shakil Ahmed, Shri Kashinath Sahoo and other philatelists and postal officials.

Nuakhai, one of Odisha’s most important harvest festivals, received a philatelic tribute on 15 September 2026 with the release of a Special Cover and pictorial cancellation at the Philatelic Bureau, Bhubaneswar GPO.

The issue celebrates the agricultural traditions, folk culture and community spirit associated with Nuakhai.

The word Nuakhai comes from Nua meaning “new” and Khai meaning “food”. The festival marks the ceremonial consumption of the season’s newly harvested crop after it is first offered to the presiding deities.
